Theology is only thought applied to Religion
Welcome to The Crombie Burn Reader. This newsletter is designed to be an occasional offering of a more theological or philosophical nature but utterly accessible to all. As GK Chesterton wrote - ‘Theology is only thought applied to religion’.
If you are a subscriber to St Moluag’s Coracle this is part of the overall offering you recieve, but of course you can unsubscribe from this list if you wish and just like the Coracle it’s free to read. Already we have lined up Fr Aiden Nichols, a well-respected and well known Dominican theologian, and more writers will be added as time goes on.
The Crombie Burn is located next to Scalan on the Braes of Glen Livet, the secret seminary for the training of Priests in the North of Scotland. It began in 1716, an idea of Bishop Gordon and lasted until 1799. It was a tumultuous century for Catholics in Scotland, especially in the Jacobite’s areas of the North and it was at Scalan through the Priests it produced, that helped keep a Catholic heart beating in the North. In the spirit of that seminary I offer you this email to help your faith and understanding deepen.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
