Dear Subscribers
I wanted to send you a quick word on a couple of new things regarding the Coracle. But first, I just wanted to say hello to everybody who has recently signed up! We are a Scottish focused online magazine that publishes articles on faith, philosophy, history, and current affairs that pertain to life as a Catholic in Scotland. St Moluag’s Coracle is a part of Mary’s Well, a newly active Highland based apostolate that seeks to help people live out their faith through retreats and courses. Mary’s Well is a registered Scottish charity and is primarily based in the Diocese of Aberdeen.
The Coracle is made up of a small team including; Stephen Watt, who writes on Philosophical matters and helps run the overall magazine, Emma Holloway, who recently came aboard and will focus on social media, and a few other people I bounce things off every so often. My name is Eric, and I started St Moluag’s Coracle because I felt there was a space for an informative and (hopefully) interesting Catholic magazine for Scotland. Thanks for subscribing, and if you have any suggestions or feedback, please get in touch.
**NEW STUFF**
The Little Devotional
The Bible is full of gems and in this new newsletter within the overall magazine I will draw out a portion of Scripture, give its context and then a life application. If you do subscribe to this, it will drop into your emails twice a month. If this interests you, go to your Accounts Page >> Manage Subscriptions >> then tick the Little Devotional to receive it. Not subscribing to this does not affect your overall subscription to the Coracle.
Support Our Work
St Moluag’s Coracle has been free from the start, and everyone who writes or helps produce it does so simply because they want to and think it’s a worthwhile project to be part of. However, while we are able to keep costs to the bare minimum, running it is not free.
We are now at a stage with respect to subscribers and development of ideas that being able to have some cash would be really helpful. That being said, I do not want to put people off by asking for another subscription when many are struggling. Instead, for those who can, I want you to consider donating to the Coracle by upgrading to a paid subscription.
This costs £4.99 a month and you would be paying for media costs like domains and graphics. Our plan is to grow so we can buy equipment that lets us move into other media, such as podcasting. We also want to continue to develop the overall ministry of Mary’s Well, putting on courses, retreats and even outreach events so that we may glorify our wonderful God right here in Scotland. We have no plans to pay anyone right now - maybe that will come someday – so, for now, we are your dedicated volunteers! If you do not wish to donate at this time, this will not affect your subscription.
Quite often, other Substacks offer subscriber extras. While we cannot yet do that (Stephen, Emma and I all work full-time), you are getting a chance to be part of a growing Catholic media project and apostolate right here in Scotland.
